Location Arambol is located in the northern region of Goa. It lies 32 km north-west of Mapusa and Chapora, approximately 50 km from Panaji (the capital) and 12 km from Chopdem.

White sand, steep cliffs and palm groves all around force you to set your spirit free in the captivating beauty of Arambol beach in Goa. The beach is near the traditional fishing village of Arambol or Harmal, the largest coastal village in Pernem district. It is one of the favourite Goan beaches for backpackers. You can find plenty of sea shells, dolphins and star fish here in the sea water. The place is quiet and friendly, with just a few hundred locals, mostly fishing people. There is a freshwater lagoon and a hot water spring near the main beach that is peaceful and allows you to have a close experience of local life and culture.

ActivitiesThis beautiful and unspoiled beach is a perfect destination for dolphin watching, boat trips and paragliding. Apart from these water sports, the beach and the nearby freshwater lagoon is a favourite destination for the hippies to arrange wild parties. They hire the cottages and guest houses along the beach for partying, on the occasions such as New Year, Christmas and other carnivals.

Other AttractionsThere are a few shops near the beach selling clothes, junk jewelry and handicrafts from across Goa and India.

There is a freshwater lake near the beach. The lake is fed by hot springs and is lined with sulphurous mud,  rich in minerals said to have therapeutic properties for the skin. If you suffer from any skin disorders, make a pack of this mud on your body. It is capable of curing your skin disorder.

Behind the lake, stands a dense forest where people take long walks as the atmosphere is cool and soothing. The woods have certain herbal plants, that are very useful for medicinal purposes. In the forest, you will find a huge banyan tree with a Sivalinga temple under it.

You can visit the Tiracol river near Arambol beach. Beyond the river rises the Tiracol Fort, which is now an interesting little hotel with all modern amenities.

Food/CuisineYou can find a few good cafes along the main beach and the nearby coastline, which offer a variety of Italian and Indian dishes along with some local Goa specialties. These eating joints are famous for the sea food and almost all of them have bars as well which serve chilled beer, feni and other drinks.

How To ReachTourists can commute by buses that regularly ply from Mapusa and Chopdem. If you commute from some other beach, you can also hire boats, but only on market days. Taxis or bikes are available for local transport in Arambol.

AccommodationGoa, being a major tourist destination has excellent facilities for accommodation, but Arambol beach in Goa offers a few guest houses & cottages. There are no beach hotels around. You can opt for rooms rented out by villagers as well. Accommodation is very reasonable here.
